Invercargill is pretty much at the south end of the South Island, and also the home of Burt Munro, who the movie “World’s Fastest Indian” is based on.
The museum in town has an exhibit about him, but his actual Indian motorcycle is on display at the E Hayes hardware store in town.

I did two wonderful hikes in Wanaka. The first was to the Rob Roy Glacier. Not only was the glacier itself really neat to see, but there was plenty of great views along the way in the valley below.

The one long hike I did was to the top of Parapara Peak. It’s a great option for a long day out, and it must not see too much traffic, because the trail is not very well manicured, which I guess could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.
